Movie Review: Rush

Rush [2013]

Genre: Biography, Drama, Action

Rating: 8.5/10.

I’ve seen a lot of great movies in the past one month. And this one is among the best. Got to love Formula 1 movies, one of the greatest rivalries that F1 has witnessed, between James Hunt & Niki Lauda.. Great direction by Ron Howard. And well portrayed by the actors. Among the two finest Formula 1 movies/documentaries seen, hard to pick which is better.. Senna or Rush..

The Wolf of Wall Street [2013]

Genre: Biography, Comedy, Crime

Rating: 8/10.

With Martin Scorsese, you never know what to expect, but one thing is for sure, the movie will surely have a hell a lot of swearing. Based on the real life of Jordan Belfort and some fictionalization, this movie is all about one man – Leonardo DiCaprio.. Give him the goddamn Oscar already. The movie could have been cut short by around 20 mins easily. It drags a little in the middle stages. But its hilarious, unexpected and witty. Quite a different Scorsese movie from the ones in the past.

Movie Review: Mud

Mud [2012]

Genre: Drama

Rating: 8.5/10.

A very well-crafted movie with fine storytelling. Some superb camerawork and cinematography to go along with some wonderful acting performance. Matthew McConaughey owns the movie, and also superb performance by Tye Sheridan as Ellis.

The Dictator [2012]

Genre: Comedy

Rating: 7/10.

Typical Sacha Baron Cohen comedy along the lines of Borat and Bruno. Definitely has its funny moments and some outrageous ones as well. Sacha Baron is one of the best comedians out there right now. Absurd and silly, but definitely good to watch.

The Wolverine [2013]

Genre: Adventure, Action, Fantasy

Rating: 7/10.

The problem with this movie is it does not have any memorable moments like a Superman movie or a Batman movie. There are a few incredible scenes, but nothing more than that. The Wolverine fan in me has probably rated this a bit high, but its better than the X-Men Origins which came out a few years back.

Punch-Drunk Love [2002]

Genre: Drama, Romance, Comedy

Rating: 6/10.

Adam Sandler’s second best performance after Reign Over Me. He’s brilliant in this. The acting is great, but again.. If you aren’t a PT Anderson fan, you are not going to like this. It’s a smart movie and great at places, but not exactly to my liking.

Blue Valentine [2010]

Genre: Drama, Romance

Rating: 6/10.

Very hard hitting movie about a married couple and how they deal with themselves over time. I don’t prefer such movies, but the acting from both the leads are brilliant. Ryan Gosling is one of the most versatile actors today. He’s the DiCaprio of this decade. And Michelle Williams certainly deserved the Oscar nomination she got for this movie.
