Paths of Glory [1957]

Genre: War, Drama

Rating: 9.5/10.

WOW! Never discriminate a movie by color. If you do, you are making a big mistake. This movie is a prime example. It was Stanley Kubrick’s first masterpiece. One of the best war movies of all time. Kirk Douglas is great and the cinematography looks so good even in black and white. Some unforgettable scenes in the movie, along with a touching ending. Mandatory viewing.

Clerks II [2006]

Genre: Comedy

Rating: 9/10.

The sequel was released 12 years after the first movie, and for me, this one is more brilliant and humorous than the first one. You just can’t help but love Randal’s character. Jay & Silent Bob rock it alongside. Great story about friendship as well. Highly recommended. First watch Clerks, then the sequel.

Iron Man 3 [2013]

Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, Thriller

Rating: 8/10.

This is far better than the last movie. Robert Downey Jr. is as great as ever. And Ben Kingsley is superb in his role. Guy Pearce should have got some more screen time but is good in whatever role he has. Don Cheadle is also good, but his war machine could have been better. The action is great and there is some dark humor in it too.

Chronicle [2012]

Genre: Sci-Fi, Drama, Thriller

Rating: 7/10.

Sci-Fi action shot with a handheld camera. I’m not a big fan of such movies.. But this was more likeable than Cloverfield at least. Story is about 3 friends who gain accidental super-powers.

Ip Man 2 [2010]

Genre: Action, Biography, Drama

Rating: 8/10.

Following the sequence of the first movie, Ip Man now is settled in Hong Kong and continues his legacy over there. The action scenes are a little wired, but still great to watch. Donnie Yen is still in top form. There’s a brilliant fight scene featuring Ip Man and Hong. And the final fight between Ip Man and the English boxer. The ending is a little bit of Rocky IV. But the movie is still a treat to watch.

Ip Man [2008]

Genre: Action, Biography, Drama

Rating: 8.5/10.

One of the best martial arts movies of the last decade. A tale about Yip Man who was the first martial arts teacher who taught Wing Chun. Donnie Yen is brilliant as Yip Man; just watch his fists move up, down, left and right like a machine. Not sure how much of the story is actual truth, but the action scenes are fantastic. Bruce Lee was his actual student in real life.

Senna [2010]

Genre: Sport, Biography, Documentary

Rating: 9/10.

It was a co-incidence that this movie completed downloaded on May 1. Senna died on that day 18 years ago. He remains one of the greatest drivers F1 has ever seen. A documentary on his career and his rivalry with Alain Prost. Its just perfect. The last 10 mins are heart wrenching. If you are F1 fan or not, you HAVE to watch this movie.
