Adventureland [2009]

Genre: Drama, Romance, Comedy

Rating: 7/10.

A little bit of laughter and a little bit of romance. The mixture works perfectly. All in all, Good fun. Kristen Stewart is bland as ever, but Jesse Eisenberg is good at what he does. The humor is related to the characters rather than laugh out loud moments like certain other teen comedies. One of those movie which you can always watch when you’re bored.

Rating: 8.5/10.

A brilliant thriller right from the word ‘Go’, until the ambiguous ending. Although the movie lasts for quite a long 150 mins, the story makes up for it.. Jake Gyllenhaal & Hugh Jackman are brilliant in this.. The story is well crafted along the lines of a Zodiac and Gone Baby Gone. Definitely a must watch for those who like thrillers.

Rating: 7/10.

Sci-Fi action shot with a handheld camera. I’m not a big fan of such movies.. But this was more likeable than Cloverfield at least. Story is about 3 friends who gain accidental super-powers.

Ip Man 2 [2010]

Genre: Action, Biography, Drama

Rating: 8/10.

Following the sequence of the first movie, Ip Man now is settled in Hong Kong and continues his legacy over there. The action scenes are a little wired, but still great to watch. Donnie Yen is still in top form. There’s a brilliant fight scene featuring Ip Man and Hong. And the final fight between Ip Man and the English boxer. The ending is a little bit of Rocky IV. But the movie is still a treat to watch.

One of the best martial arts movies of the last decade. A tale about Yip Man who was the first martial arts teacher who taught Wing Chun. Donnie Yen is brilliant as Yip Man; just watch his fists move up, down, left and right like a machine. Not sure how much of the story is actual truth, but the action scenes are fantastic. Bruce Lee was his actual student in real life.

Rating: 8.5/10.

This movie was split into 2 different movies for the audience. Both the movies are a true masterpiece because Bollywood has rarely made anything so good. Its a great treat to watch such a story. Anurag Kashyap is easily the best Indian director right now. While Manoj Bajpayee is absolutely brilliant in the first part, the character’s son played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes up the mantle in the second part and delivers an epic portrayal in the second one. And the music, the tracks are a delight.
